Wedding at La Mare Wine Estate, Jersey

At weddings, my style of photography is predominately documentary, this allows me to capture the exciting and personal story of the bride and groom on their special day. I also offer a few formal family group shots and relaxed portraits of the couple, this usually takes up to an hour in total.

Holly and Mark decided that they didn't want any formalities and they preferred me to shoot in my natural and discreet style throughout their day, which is how I love to work. For me, the day flowed brilliantly and I managed to get very absorbed into the story of Mark and Holly's wedding.

Holly got ready at Chateau La Chaire, the ceremony took place at St Martin's Catholic Church and then their reception was held at La Mare Wine Estate. Despite the persistent rain it was a great day and I enjoyed being a part of the fun and excitement.

I hope you enjoy viewing some of my favourite images from their wedding.

I knew the snow would melt quick on the morning of the 18th of January so I got up at 5am and headed out to the east coast of Jersey to capture a few wintery images. The first shot of Gorey Harbour was a cold experience, the temperature was -2C, wind chill of -10C and snowing hard! My feet sank in the semi-frozen sand but it was worth umbracing the cold to get this unique shot of the Castle and harbour. The other two images were captured within the woods at St Catherine's where it was a lot more peaceful and a beautiful place to experience with the blanket of snow covering the woodland. These images are available for purchasing through my printshop as signed limited editions of 50.

Lynsey and Ian had their wedding in November and it was a typical autumnal day. For me it was quite challenging to shoot outdoors in the squally weather, but sometimes this opens up an opportunity for me to find more interesting images which are all part of the real story of events, that I love to document. The images of Lynsey arriving and departing the church capture these interesting moments; these resulted in being some of my favourites from their day.

Yinka and Toyosi's wedding was a fun, upbeat and vibrant wedding. Music and dance ruled their wedding reception and their whole day was very exciting and challenging for me to photograph.

As a trained documentary wedding photographer, I am always looking for photos that can communicate a powerful story - images of people which can prompt them of their feelings and emotion that they felt on that day. At Yinka and Toyosi's wedding there was a lot of action and with 180 guests all up for a party I was able to blend in naturally, be hidden within the crowd and capture some great images of the atmosphere and the people, most importantly the bride and groom.

Here are a collection of my favourite images from Yinka and Toyosi's wedding at St Mark's Church and The Royal Yacht Hotel.

Clare and Will's wedding took place at one of the most beautiful church's in Jersey - St Thomas's Church. It is a grand venue with stunning architecture. It also has a lot of natural light which is uncommon within churches but great for us photographers!

Here are some of my favourite images from Clare and Will's exciting wedding day. My style of wedding photography is documentary, natural and informal. I don't dictate proceedings, I simply allow the day to progress naturally. My discreet presence allows me to capture real moments without people looking at the camera.

These business portraits were comissioned by a client in the Arts industry for use within their commercial website.

They wanted clean, simple portraits that were relaxed and which showed off each individual's personality. They wanted to make sure that they didn't look too corporate in style. I shot the images using soft lenses with an aperture of f1.2 to help drive the viewers attention to the subjects eye contact. The use of daylight balanced cold lights helped me to get the natural look and feel that I was asked for in a controlled studio environment. These images will enhance the company's profile by making their contemporary business portraits identifiable with their business.

I currently offer two different types of luxury wedding albums, both are contemporary in design and will enhance your set of wedding images that I produce for you.

Here is an example of an album design for Belinda and Henry's recent wedding. The layout shows a double page spread. I select the best images and set them out in a way that will enrich the story of your wedding day. You will see that some images are full page to give maximum impact, others are set out in a series. This design will be printed within a 14" x 11" inch contemporary album and it will be available for viewing within the next five weeks. Andy

Henry has been a great friend of mine for many years and it was an honour to have the chance to document Belinda and Henry's special day.

Their wedding was filled with lots of laughter, tears and emotion. The ceremony was held at St Brelade's church which was an emotional and beautiful occasion - the tears didn't stop throughout the whole service. The reception was then held up at La Mare Wine Estate which was a fabulous setting amongst the grape vines. The day concluded with some entertaining action on the dance floor led by a live samba band. It was at this stage that I produced my favourite shot from the day - Henry picking up Belinda in his arms. You can see the overwhelming happiness in Belinda's face as she is spun around. They make a great couple and it was a special day for everyone involved to see them get married. I wish my great friends a very happy life together! I am looking forward to lots more weddings this year, please keep in touch on my blog or 'like' my facebook page to view more of my forthcoming work.

I returned back to Jersey yesterday after a lovely week out in Portugal documenting Lucy and Ady's wedding.

Their wedding was held at the Martinhal beach resort near a quiet town in the Algarve called Sagres. The ceremony was staged outdoors which was wonderfully summery in the idyllic mid-twenties heat, blue skies and beach views. However it did create quite a challenge to avoid too many pictures of people squinting in the bright sunlight. The whole day was very relaxed and it felt like a holiday for everyone, which I'm sure is how Lucy and Ady wanted it to be. I hope you like viewing some of my favourite images from their day. Please feel free to make comment on which image you like the most - I would love to hear your views. Thank you to Lucy and Ady for asking me to shoot your wedding. It was great to meet all of your friends and family and to document your special day. Aside from the full day shoot, I also managed to relax for a few days on the pristine beaches in the area, which was a bonus as I had never been to Portugal before! I am looking forward to a lot more weddings this year and I will be posting them on this blog, so please keep in touch if you would like to view more destination weddings and weddings in Jersey.

I have just received this exciting new bit of kit - an underwater housing for my Canon 5D MkII.

For the past year I have been wanting to get in the water to capture unique landscape and surf images from the sea. The landscape shot shown above was taken last week without a waterproof housing but it was this shot that really inspired me to buy one. I have been surfing in Jersey for the past 7 years and on many occasions I have spotted the most incredible scenes out in the water - backlit waves, silhouettes of surfers, reflecting colours etc. Hopefully now I will be able to capture this and bring back some rare shots of Jersey's beautiful shoreline. I can't wait to test it out! I have a couple of trips to Europe this month, which will be a good opportunity to give it a trial run in the warmer water. You can keep in touch on my blog and facebook page if you are interested in following my new work. If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to post these below.
The superior bungalow is surrounded by wildlife on the edge of St Ouen's pond, the area is truly stunning. Also the beach is only 50 metres away - my dream house! I was asked by the developer to produce a series of images which capture the house in context with it's beautiful surroundings and to show off the spacious contemporary living areas. The property is now up for sale through Savills Estate Agents. If you are interested in my architectural photography for your property or business, please contact me. Thanks Andy

Here's a "behind the scenes" post on how I produce my high gloss landscape prints.

All of my work is printed in the UK and I work with experienced lab technicians to get the best quality and vibrancy out of my landscape images. High gloss prints are carefully packaged and then shipped over to me. I then fit a back plate on the reverse of the picture and secure hanging brackets to complete the job. The lengthy process by the lab and myself is all done by hand but the outcome is a stunning product that I am very proud of.
